Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid disclosed that lawmakers are discussing actions in response to Koran burnings in Tennessee.   Since the actions of an American pastor have sparked protests across the Middle East, Harry and his fellow Liberals are considering holding Senate hearings.   In true Progressive form Senator Graham has chimed in on the issue as Newsmax quotes him saying:

"Sen. Lindsey Graham said Congress might need to explore the need to limit some forms of freedom of speech, in light of Tennessee pastor Terry Jones’ Quran burning, and how such actions result in enabling U.S. enemies."

This is truly an odd statement coming from Graham as it appears he does not understand that being anything other than a Muslim is a death sentence.   Last time we checked, Americans being killed in Afghanistan goes back over a decade for a whole host of reasons.   Matter of fact, being killed by the faithful to the Koran was happening here in the U.S. in 1993. (1993 World Trade Center bombing during the Clinton White House, killing seven and injuring 1,042).

If Graham believes that burning a book enables our enemies, let him explain what we did to deserve the 1993 bomb blast in New York.   If he is going to soil his linen about what makes our enemies angry, it could be his lack of courage that needs a Congressional hearing.   Graham's solution to our problems is to limit our freedoms granted under the Constitution.   Now let's look at the First Amendment:

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

"Congress shall make no law" is a pretty definitive statement and easily understood even if you are a lawyer.   His position on ignoring what the Constitution says to appease our enemies puts him squarely in the camp of Radical Leftists.   Should you want to burn Bibles, Reid and Graham wouldn't make a peep in the press, they haven't so far.

Welcome to Graham's World - A Parable

You have worked long and hard so it's time to take the family on a nice vacation.   Using your National ID card, you apply for a travel visa to enter the state of Florida. This takes several weeks as the government moves at the speed of molasses.   With your visa finally approved you go to the Federal Bank to access your account.   You ask the government union worker behind the counter for $3000 as you will need to buy food and gasoline on the way.  You are told that the amount exceeds government policy despite $6.37/gal gas prices.   You get fined $500 for saying something that is deemed offensive to a federal worker.   After reducing the requested funds you are issued a cash card complete with a tracking RFID.   Since the trip will take you through southern states, you are told you will have to bring several "undocumented aliens" back north with you when you return.   Next you are given a federal carbon tax worksheet so you can pay for your expected "footprint" before you leave.   This is the straw that breaks the camel's back so you cancel the vacation.   The next morning you get a visit from Homeland Security.   It's good that you had some time off as you spend the next four days answering questions about the "real purpose" of your trip.   Fortunately you escape domestic terrorist charges.   Since your investigation was expensive, you are not refunded the money for the trip as you have to pay for the investigation.
